Abyssinian guinea pigs - Everything you need to know

Today is our guest speaker post and we have the wonderful Racheal from Guinea Pig Gardens chatting all things Abyssinian:
Abyssinian guinea pigs live for between 5 - 8 years depending on their lifestyle/diet. Their hair can grow to roughly 1.3inches long & their coats have between 6 & 8 rosette’s (or tufts) generally.
Though they are classed as ’short hairs’ their hair can be longer than a smooth coat & they come in many colours.
This breed I’ve personally found to be one of the most ’cheeky’. However that aside, they can be very affectionate & have outgoing little personalities. They can be louder than other breeds but also very calm (let’s admit it, all guinea pigs are noisy).
Here is a photo of my Abyssinian Sow Meeka, she came up from Brisbane early this year. She is very friendly & also loves to stretch out for a snooze. She’s just had her first litter & in my opinion her pups are spectacular.
